hi nona, this was probably my fault. i was roadtripping through a lot of deadzone regions that morning (southern illinois mostly) and i just kept turning on screening whenever i got service and saw fighting in flatview. i figured spotty modding was better than no modding, since im pretty sure i was the only one online, but i didnt mean to condone any trolling that got up before i turned on screening or confuse any mods coming online later about how they were supposed to be handling things. fwiw my vacation time is over and i'm back home now, so this shouldnt happen again.

we've been calling out for new mods for a while now but now that gayvert's stepped down we're really hoping some other nonas are willing to come on board. i see lots of comments along the lines of "i would sign up to be a mod but..." and i wanted to address some of the most common concerns for those of you who might still be on the fence.

i don't have enough time
we don't expect you to be on wiffu 24/7, in fact i only ever mod wiffu at times when i would have otherwise been online. my time spent here hasn't increased since i became a mod.

i belong to [oppressed group] and nonas would troll me for it
you're not obligated to disclose any aspect of your identity to nonas, how much you share is completely up to you. unfortunately you still may be exposed to trolling of that nature even if nonas aren't directing it at you specifically, and this is obviously one of the major drawbacks of modding.

nonas are a pain to deal with
it's true that interacting with nonas can be at times a little exhausting, but the introduction of the mod post as opposed to the meta thread has greatly reduced the amount of modwank and made interacting with nonas much easier. also, we're a team; if you're ever unsure on how to handle a complaint, we're always there to offer support.

i wouldn't be around much/i'd only be around during US hours and we already have a lot of US mods
honestly any help would be appreciated, regardless of your timezone. again, we don't expect you to be here 24/7, so even if you're only signing on a couple of times a week, it's still appreciated.

i don't want to share my social media
unfortunately this one's non-negotiable, and i hope you can appreciate the reason for this rule. but we're not asking for your personal facebook/linkedin/instagram account, a fandom tumblr or twitter would absolutely suffice.


please note i'm not trying to deligitmise gayvert's reasons for leaving; gayvert received more targeted trolling than any mod in recent memory and i admire their tenacity. it's true that there are clearly drawbacks to modding wiffu and i'm sure you don't need me to explain these to you. but i just wanted to offer my perspective on some of the most common concerns.

if you are interested in applying, please PM me or one of the other mods with a bit of info about yourself, your timezone and when you think you'd be around, as well an active social media account. please note you'll need both a dreamwidth and a discord account. thanks nonas!

honestly fuck whoever deleted my comment about how ppl support trans poc until they say something people don't like about gender essentialism or transphobia

could someone please answer what happened with the thread abt showering (someone posted a thread complaining abt a neighbour showering at 3 am, replies saying that people can shower in their own apartment whenever they want kept being deleted and eventually the whole thread was deleted) and what exactly was deleteworthy abt it
